Within this small look development project my intention was to analyze and re-create the typical look and feel of a rust material in 3d.
Rust is such a big topic among game development and material creation that I started understanding the deep processes of how rust develops and taking these information to translate them into my material creations. Many 3D artists are uncertain about how to handle rust within PBR pipelines, so I want to thoroughly explore and understand it and then share my findings in an article soon.
